Such a time as this; what is peculiar about the time we are in now?
What attracted many of us to become Christians was because we were told the Word of God holds promises that we can draw from and all our challenges will disappear.
At a time such as this when challenging situations seems to be the norm people are running from one ministry to the other because they are unable to see visible evidence of the benefit of God’s word in their circumstances.

We all know the word of God to be the Bible. The Bible is God’s divine message to us.
However God’s word is not limited to the Bible that we can see and carry around.
In John 1:1&2 we are introduced to the Word of God as being the same as God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. (NLT)
Reading further John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.(ESV)

Phillipians 2:5-7 Says Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
In Revelation 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (NKJV)
From all these we know that the Word of God is not just His divine message but the Word is God Himself and He came in the flesh as the Son Jesus Christ.
“1 John 5:7 says For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

The Word of God is authority and the Word rules.
Revelation 19: 14-15 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.
From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.
He will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. (ESV) In verse 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. (NKJV)

The Word is God’s mouthpiece conveying God’s message to us. This role was and is still being performed by our Lord Jesus Christ.
He said: This is true, because I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has commanded me what I must say and speak.
And I know that his command brings eternal life. What I say, then, is what the Father has told me to say.” John 12:49-50 (GNT)

The Word possesses attributes of God.
Jesus is “the reflection of God’s glory and the exact representation of His very being.
”Hebrews 1:2-3 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son He created the universe.
The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of his command.
When He had cleansed us from our sins, He sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. (NLT)
The Word rules as a king.

HISTORY OF HIS WORD
The Word had been in existence from the very beginning.
Proverbs 8:22-23
“The LORD formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else.
When was the Word created?
From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, before the earth began.
Colossians 1:17
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
1 John 1:1
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands–this is the Word of life.
1 John 1:2
And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
BENEFITS OF HIS WORD
We are energized by His word. The Word Of God Is Life And Power Hebrews 4:12
God’s word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.
We have also seen that the word of God is Jesus Christ Himself.
By the word of God we are made whole for the word was Jesus that shed his blood on the cross of calvary thereby reconciling us to God and giving us access to all the benefits that God prepared for us from the very beginning.
BENEFITS OF HIS WORD
2. By His Word we receive new glory and identification.
We can experience the glory of Jesus and the life He gives when we hunger and seek for it.
God says for I will pour water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your patched fields.
And I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your children. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolish, and cannot understand them because they can only be discerned through the Spirit.
It is only when the Spirit is in you that you can understand the power of the Word and the role of Jesus Christ in your salvation..

PSALMS 18:30
"As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” Psalms 18:30 (NKJV)

3. The Word injects new life into us. Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life”
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
You should not doubt the power of the word of God; believe it and act on it by building on the rock that never fails.
4. We overcome the unseen and spiritual enemies by the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17.
Our fight is spiritual and the enemies are hidden. If you do not have your sword which is the word of God you will not be able to confront or destroy these enemies.

5. We gain victory and operate in dominion with the word.
The word destroys the seeds of evil and prevents it from harming us. Just as the word of God has power to create and give life it can also destroy that which is not fit for use.
“The word of God is life and power for God’s children but it is death and terror to God’s enemy. Like fire it destroys every impurity but at the same time it purifies that which is pure to make it purer”.
The Word gives us victory. Jesus overcame the devil with the word; speak the word in every situation and you will also overcome it if you believe. The word of God does not fail and its potency does not diminish; the word of our God stands forever.”
6. The Word of God helps us to remember and appropriate His promises for our life. For example the wo…. Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord. I will put My Laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds”.

7. God’s Word Reveals Our Hidden Thoughts.
If we want God to show us where we stand with Him; through His word, we should prayerfully tell Him. God will always reveal our hidden thoughts and secret sins to correct us.
The word of God is death to anyone that is double minded who is not consistent in their service to God.
God says when the righteous people start sinning; all the good they did in the past cannot save them from being punished. It is therefore better not to fall away from God; we can only be secured when the word of God is in us. “Keep your way pure by guarding it according to the word of God”.

8. The Word of God gives knowledge.
We know God the more and the word reveals what is required of us to make heaven. We are able to differentiate between good and bad.
2 Timothy 3:16 Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.(CEV)
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple Psalms 9:7 (NKJV)
Life Application of His Word.
The word of God holds His promises for you, your household and the Church.
What is the evidence that we are reaping the Benefits?
- Joy of salvation
- Desire to always want to be in the presence of God. The word of God will do more good in our lives when we stay connected to God. In the parable of the sower we can deduce that the seed that fell on good soil stayed connected to the source of its life and continued to feed on the word. As a result it remained standing even in times of trouble; it was not destroyed by persecution or the worries of this life neither was it swallowed up by the deceitfulness of wealth.
- Eagerness to render service to God
- Seeking to know and do the will of God.Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalms 119:105(NLT)
- Sharing the good news of the greatness and goodness of God effortlessly.
- Manifesting the characteristics of God.

The benefit of God’s Word is endless.
The more we study His word the more we get new revelations and understanding from Him.

e) Above all at the end of your race you will see God in heaven.

1)Father in heaven please keep me by your word. Give me the grace to live all the days of my life in and with your word.
2)Give me an understanding of your word. Store up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Please forgive me for all the time I despise your word. Restore me by your mercy.
3)With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments. Lord let Your Spirit rest on us; the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of You LORD.
PRAY FERVENTLY
4) By Your word make my mountain strong. May your word rule me and guide my path to life everlasting.
5) Let me operate in the power of your word. Let your word speak concerning my situation. By your word let me operate in dominion against the spiritual powers of darkness.
6) Let Your word dwell richly in me and help me to proclaim to sinners the power of Your Word. May your word help me so that I shall see you in heaven at the end of my stay here on earth.
LORD May I receive your answer to my prayers in Jesus Name (amen)
